Ford Motor Co. has rewarded a company for creating a smartphone app that promises to make finding fuel easier.Team Oodles Rewards developed an application called Oodles Rewards that helps motorists locate gasoline stations, buy discounted gasoline and receive loyalty credits.Team Oodles Rewards emerged as the winner from among the 10 contestants that showed off their apps at the Los Angeles Auto Show last month. The 10 companies worked with Ford for two months to develop their apps on Ford's Sync AppLink platform.[…]

Even for people who drive fuel-efficient cars, gas prices are almost always a source of frustration. Nearly three out of four consumers consider price to be the most important factor in the decision of where purchase fuel. Now an Austin-based startup called Oodles Rewards is hoping to appeal to that 75% by empowering its users with advance knowledge of fuel prices and easy access to loyalty rewards, making those quick stops at the gas station less of a crap shoot and more of a long-term money saver.[…]

Team Oodles Rewards won the first-ever Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show Connected Car Expo, Ford announced. Oodles Rewards was selected today from among 10 finalists for the grand prize. “We were very excited to see the innovation all 10 finalists showed in their Ford SYNC AppLink-enabled apps at the Connected Car Expo this week,” said Scott Burnell, global lead, Partner Management, Ford Developer Program. “The judges felt the Oodles Rewards app really captured the spirit of the Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit.”[…]


Oodles Rewards App Won the App Pursuit Challenge

Ford unleashed what they called the Connected City App Pursuit Challenge months ago. It was designed to jumpstart developers into creating AppLink-enabled applications that serve as genuine tools and solutions that are appropriate for in-vehicle use. What does all of that mean? Basically, Ford wanted people who make apps for car touchscreens to develop some specifically for Ford vehicles. And this week at the LA Auto Show, the winner of the App Pursuit Challenge was selected. Beating out application behemoths like IMB and Microsoft the Oodles Rewards App won the App Pursuit Challenge.[…]


FORD NAMES CONNECTED CAR-CONNECTED CITY APP PURSUIT FINALISTS:

Ford Motor Company today announced 10 finalists of the Connected Car-Connected City App Pursuit, which took place last week in conjunction with the Ford Developer Conference at the Connected Car Expo during CTIA Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas. More than 170 developers from 15 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Hong Kong and Japan, attended the Ford Developer Conference to learn how to develop in-vehicle apps using Ford’s SYNC AppLink™. AppLink enables drivers to access and control more than 60 compatible smartphone apps while in their vehicle through voice commands.[…]
